Camping World

2 days ago, we took off for Camping World to get an electric cable fixed...it was fine, just frayed and a possible fire danger. I know we both were thinking "Please don't die, please don't die" and the Magic Bus pulled thru just great! Maybe changing out those fuel filters did the trick! At least we feel a ton more relaxed about it!
Over-nighting at Camping World is interesting, to say the least. First, the parking lot was jammed! I finally spotted a space that was only a "maybe", but figured I'd try. MAN!! NO way.....trees on one side and the butt end of another RV on the other......just missed making it work. So, I backed gingerly out of that mess (I think I made people nervous, but I had it under control....I think! ;0) and found a spot at the end of the lot. You are probably not meant to park there, but there was a huge 5th wheel there, so I figured WTH? Alan helped me back in, we put the slides out and settled in. Everything works just fine with the generator going so we were set. The only problem was the horrible noise from the highway. Even with the generator going, it was deafening! When we went to bed, we turned off the generator, put in the earplugs and just hoped for a few hours sleep....and that's about all we got!! We did have family drop by to see our Magic Bus and hang out for a while....that was really fun! We haven't seen any of them in a few years...the kids have grown so much. And adults really enjoyed catching up. They also brought goodies to eat, beer and tequilla, so a good time was had by all. Thanks for coming by Jim, Rosa, Fernando, Dan and Elena!!! We love you!
We were all happy to get back to our little campsite in the RV park in Camptonville, that's for sure. So quiet,  and so nice. The only noise you hear is the birds and your neighbors saying "hey". My neighbors are interesting. I am probably one of the youngest here! Our neighbors to our right feed all the wild critters, so we have nightly visits from coyotes, bear, skunks, raccoons and the like. We call her "Mrs. Cravitts". "Coach" is her father and he lives there too. He's amazing! 96 years old and he gets out every morning and evening and walks the circle of the park. He uses a walker and he looks very frail, but he does it! Alan calls him my boyfriend because he always stops to sat hello or waves if we aren't outside. Then there is the couple across the street that used to live in Jamaica. Hubby drinks like a fish and I think he's hard of hearing too or maybe he's just too out of it to care that I'm trying to talk to him. He sits on his little front porch and watches the world go by. His wife is sweet and stops to say hi once in a while. The neighbors to our left have an old Corgi and a puppy. At first, that puppy barked non stop, but that seems to have gotten better. And down the way is our good friend Tom. He visits every few days and we always enjoy him...great sense of humor! We have been to the monthly potlucks and that was nice...everyone is just so friendly. And out of the park are all of our other friends. We had dinner the other night at Pam and John's and Jessi, Matt and little Hank and Amber were there too. A wonderful potluck and the time just flew by!
By early afternoon, everyone is inside. It's getting pretty hot by then. And our Magic Bus REALLY heats up (think of your car and sitting in the sun), but we have great air conditioners. We waffle back and forth on staying. It's cheap here and the park in great, but it is also HOT! We've talked about heading to the Oregon Coast, but that is the opposite way for  when we do leave for Texas. California parks, especially on the coast, are outrageous! To give you a frame of reference, we pay $350/ month here, plus electric. Some are $80/ night and no break at all for a monthly stay. I called one and the monthly was $1560 PLUS electric!! Nice park, but no bargain. So, while we waffle back and forth, we are here and still planning on leaving to head to the Gulf the end of September. We are looking forward to getting back on the road again and being the gypsies we really are!
